the story of my argument with the actress jamie lee curtis
Today they said...
Jamie Lee Curtis: (Speaking in Dublin) "My new Halloween film is about an empowered woman. She takes charge of her own destiny. This time we get to win. The script was written before the Me Too movement but it is very much of its time. Women are no longer willing to be victims."
James Healy: "The problem Jamie Lee is that hack and slash films sexualise evil and may be causing significant mental disruption for both men and women and also for children, the people who view them, thereby actually creating murderers, socialising psychopaths to behaviours they would not otherwise commit, when your viewers immitate the images of violation which you and John Carpenter and at one time your Mother and Alfred Hitchcock, have portrayed so graphically for sensual pleasure and for profit. I find it shameful that the bankrupt media groups of Ireland, to wit the Irish Times, Independent Newspapers and RTE, all of whom like to pose feminist, failed to enunciate even this modest critique of the pornographies you peddle, during your visit to our country. I am not accusing you of being a serial killer but I am saying that where serial killer crimes are committed you and John Carpenter and your mother and Alfred Hitchcock and all those who have trafficked in images of violation for profit, are somehow present and complicit."
