In the early nineteen eighties a young recording artist, styling herself Cyndi Lauper, singlehandedly undertook to repudiate the crass sleazoid exploitation and objectification of the female form within the entertainment industry, by the simple act of casting in her music videos copious quantities of young women who were not as good looking as she was. This brief cultural flowering became known in the music business as The Hag Spring.
