Himmler: Has the eagle landed?

Radl: That depends on how you look at it.

Himmler: What do you mean?

Radl: Well eagles are landing and taking off all the time all over the world. I'm sure one probably landed somewhere in the last few minutes.

Himmler: Ze Fuhrer wants to know have you successfully kidnapped Winston Churchill.

Radl: Well it all depends on what you mean by success. What is success when all is said and done? Is it to accomplish what the world means by successs? Or is it a more internal, mystical, poetic concept? Is not success just bringing a smile to just one person? Is it not a success when a little boy helps an old lady across the road? Is it not success when a singer hits a high note? Anyway. There is too much emphasis on other more cynical debased cheapened notions of success in our brutalised culture: on mercantile success, on commando group success, on kidnapping Churchill success. In this harsh world of achieverism we need to redefine the very notion of success.

Himmler: Have you got Churchill or not?

Radl: Er no.

Himmler: So you failed.

Radl: Not exactly.

Himmler: In what way did you not fail?

Radl: We succeeded in not getting him.
