there's always something good
The heron is at lakeside sunning himself.
He's letting people come up close to take photographs.
His wings are half unfolded, perhaps to dry.
They look like a coat tails in a particularly fashionable suit.
It's a curious stance for a big bird.
In his finery and his posture he puts me in mind of an Admiral or an Arch Angel or the newly crowned King Charles the Third of England.
Or converesely of a classic flasher from the Benny Hill Show in a trench coat exposing himself.
No disrespect to any admirals, arch angels, kings of England, ghosts of Benny Hill, or flashers who may be reading this.
I've never seen the heron behavave in such a manner before, adopting a posture with his wings half extended, I mean, and unselfconconsciously continuing to sun himself as people get close to take photos.
In my heart of hearts amid the bustle of life, I know that this is the crowning grace of the day.
God always sends one.
