top ten dictators seeking to censor the internet as the new year begins

1. The Islamic Republic of Iran.

2. The Communist government of China.

3. The resovietising President Vladimir Putin of Russia.

4. The Sun Newspaper. This Rupert Murdock owned title, fresh from cheerleading the media show trial of deceased broadcaster Jimmy Saville, and fresh from the excoriation of its own reputation by a British Public Enquiry, has launched a campaign to censor the internet under the logo Delete Cyber Bullying. The possibility that Rupert Murdock's amoral, thuggish, phone hacking, police corrupting, politician subverting, society debauching, private citizen intimidating, News International Corporation could possibly care about the bullying rings which use the internet and other methods to murder people by harassing them into suicide, is too remote for words. A more realistic explanation of the Sun's advocacy of internet censorship is the Sun's awareness that the public are going to the internet to hear opinions which have not been dictated by an amoral, thuggish, etc etc, corporate strategy.

5. The Daily Mail. Playing the same game as the Sun. Pretending to be worried about bullying gangs using the internet to harass people to death. One particular piece of Daily Mail irony came just before Christmas when an Irish parliamentarian killed himself. The Daily Mail attempted to hijack the man's death as part of its self styled supposed anti internet Bullying campaign. The Daily Mail's call for internet censorship came under the banner headline: "Let's Protect our Parliamentarians From Internet Cowards." The exact same day the Daily Mail ran an article supposedly exposing Irish parliamentarians who were using their accredited dimplomatic status to by pass airport security procedures. Among the accredited diplomats was my old friend the South Kildare parliamentarian Jack "Travelling Expenses" Wall. Jack Wall alone of the parliamentarians impugned by the newly sensitive Daily Mail has a good excuse for using fast track diplomatic methods to by pass airport procedures that the rest of us are compelled to go through. Jack Wall, sometimes unkindly referred to (by me) as the Mumbly Joe of South Kildare, speaks so indistinctly that if he had to go through standard counter check interviews, the whole airport would be paralysed while the staff endeavoured to understand him.

8. The Evening Herald. (See Daily Mail.)

9. President Kim Jong Un of North Korea.

heelers linguistic theory

Postulation: One world language existed. Traces of it remain in all languages. These traces can be identified by similarities of vocabularic sound or grammatical mechanism arising within languages that have flourished in regions far distant geographically from each other. Where the same word exists for the same concept in vocabularies that can be shown to have originated before known contact between the speakers of the two languages, (and outside of the normal boundaries ascribed somewhat arbitrarily by linguists to possibly mythical proto languages such as Indo European) we might postulate that this word was once part of a single world language.

Re (Ancient Egyptian) = Sun.
Ri (Chinese) = Sun.
Ray (English) = Beam of light.

Ni hao (Chinese) = Hello.
How (North American Indian) = Hello.

Puca (Irish) = Ghost spirit.
Poukah (Commanche Indian of North America) = Ghost.

Henge (Old English) = Height.
Hen (Chinese) = Very.

La ma (Hebrew/Aramaic) = Why.
Le ma (Chinese) =  generic question particles with same function and action as the English "eh."

Ya (Russian) = I
Yo (Spanish) = I
Wo (Chinese) = I
Yahweh (Hebrew) = the holy people's name for God, which some suggest might be translated as "I am." The actual Hebrew words for "I am," are Ei yeh.

Abba (Aramaic) = Father.
Baba (Chinse) = Father.
Papa (Italian) = Father

Na-hua-tl (Aztec) = Name of ancient Aztec language of Mexico.
Hua (Chinese) = Speech, language. (A syllabic component approximating to "hua" is found in many names of North American tribes and languages.)

Tao (Chinese) = To or towards or noun for path or verb for motion towards.
To (English) = To or towards.

Is mee (Arabic) = I am.
Is me (Irish pronounced "iss may.") = I am.

Dung (Korean) = excrement.

Tzin (Aztec Nathuatl)  = diminutive suffix, connoting endearment or smallness.
In  (Irish) = diminutive suffix pronounced "een" connoting endearment or smallness.
N (Chinese) = suffix which when added to "Ni" (you) to make it "Nin" (honorable you) connoting respect.

Teotl (Aztec Nahuatl) = God.
Dio (Italian) = God.
Di (Chinese) = Emperor. The Chinese for God is "Shang Di" meaning "Higher Emperor."

Khwaishen (Hindi) = wishes.
Wishes (English) = wishes.

Asi (Hindi) = like these.
Asi (Spanish) = thusly or in such manner or like this.

Y (Spanish) = conjunction, pronounced "ee," meaning "and."
i (Russian) = (written in Cyrillic script as a reversed capital n) conjunction, pronounced "ee," meaning "and."

Now (English) = can mean "at the present time" but also a conjectural mood word without a precise meaning for insertion in any sentence, as in "Well now I don't know," or "Now maybe you're right after all," or "Now what's all this about," or "Now some people think James Healy is the finest mind of a generation."
Nu (Russian) = Conjectural mood word without precise meaning capable of insertion in any sentence.
Ne (Chinese) = Conjectural mood word.

Ocel (Russian) = pronounced "oh syel."
Asal (Irish) = donkey.

Kobilye (Russian) = horse.
Capal (Irish) = horse.

Tang (Chinese) = Sweet, soup, or scalding hot. (Meaning varies with intonational accent.)
Tang (English) = Taste, or slight taste, or slight evocative resonance or odour.

Eto (Russian) = This.
Esto (Spanish) = This.

Da (Chinese) = Word used to qualify certain verbs suggesting "doing" the action of the verb.
Do (English) = Word connoting action, ie "to do something," or affirmative reality of action of related verb, ie "I do run," "I do learn English," "I do swim." Past tense form can function as simple English past tense, ie "I did run."

Conclusion: The above similarities are the same words arising in widely dispersed languages to connote the same concept through the same action. They did not arise coincidentally or after modern contact between linguistic groups. They arose within those languages at some point in pre history. Therefore I am suggesting that at some point in pre history, all those languages were one.

Footnote: I was attracted to the notion of a single world language by an enthusiasm for a literal reading of the Tower of Babel story in the Bible. In every language I see limitless beauty. This also is suggestive to me of God. If he really did scramble all the languages of the earth at the tower of Babel as a punishment for our pride, the result is indeed typical of him. A world filled with the unfathomably melodious ringing of endlessly diverse unfathomably beautiful unfathomably glorious languages. Even his punishments are gifts.
